Music Theory: Beyond the Foundations
A 10-Week Live Online Workshop with Ailie Robertson
Take your musical understanding to the next level.
You've mastered the basics. Now it's time to go beyond them.
Whether you've completed Music Theory Foundations & Fundamentals for Harpists or already have a solid grounding in music theory, this course will help you develop a deeper understanding of harmony, musical structure and the theory that underpins the music you love to play.
Designed specifically for harpists, this 10-week workshop explores the complete ABRSM Grades 3 & 4 Music Theory syllabus in a clear, practical and supportive way.
Theory — Explained Clearly, For Harpists
Over 10 progressive weeks, Ailie Robertson will guide you through the next stage of your music theory journey.
Together we'll explore more advanced concepts, always relating them back to real music and the practical realities of playing the harp.
You'll build confidence gradually, with each week's lesson building naturally on the last.
No unnecessary jargon.
No feeling overwhelmed.
Just thoughtful, structured teaching that helps theory become something you understand—not something you memorise.
What You'll Gain
By the end of the 10 weeks, you'll:
Cover the complete ABRSM Grades 3 & 4 Music Theory syllabus
Develop a stronger understanding of harmony and musical structure
Become confident working with more complex key signatures, scales and time signatures
Understand triads, inversions and chord progressions in greater depth
Recognise cadences and common harmonic patterns
Gain confidence with transposition
Strengthen your understanding of musical terminology, notation and score reading
Analyse music more effectively and learn repertoire with greater confidence
Continue developing the independence and musical understanding introduced in the first course
Rather than simply reading the notes on the page, you'll begin to understand why the music works the way it does.
