This beautiful Irish air is based on the traditional tune “An Tailiúr” (“The Tailor”), collected in the Petrie Collection. English words were later written for the melody by Irish poet Samuel Ferguson (1810–1886).

Dear thoughts are in my mind and my soul soars enchanted,
